Best Liberal Arts Colleges in Texas

Southwestern University is the best ranked institution in the state (#1 in Texas and #68 nationally), followed by Austin College (#71 nationally), according to the US News & World Report Liberal Arts Rankings 2009.

Founded in 1840, Southwestern is the oldest university in Texas. It was named the nation's 7th “Best Value” undergraduate institution by the 2005 Princeton Review college guide.

In the 2008 edition of The Best 366 Colleges by the Princeton Review, Southwestern is ranked #7 in the country for Best Career/Job Placement Services. It has been named a "best value" by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. In addition, Fiske Guide to Colleges named Southwestern a 2009 Best Buy School".

Austin College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Texas Education Agency. It is one of the finest liberal arts schools in the nation, and ranked among the "Best 361 Colleges" in the 2006 Princeton Review. It was profiled in the 2005 edition of Kaplan’s Unbiased Guide to the 331 Most Interesting Colleges.
