Southwestern University is the best ranked institution in the state (#1 in Texas and #68 nationally), followed by Austin College (#71 nationally), according to the US News & World Report Liberal Arts Rankings 2009.

Founded in 1840, Southwestern is the oldest university in Texas. It was named the nation's 7th “Best Value” undergraduate institution by the 2005 Princeton Review college guide.

In the 2008 edition of The Best 366 Colleges by the Princeton Review, Southwestern is ranked #7 in the country for Best Career/Job Placement Services. According to the US News & World Report's Liberal Arts Rankings, Reed College is the best ranked school in Oregon, placed 54th nationally in 2009. Willamette University is the second best in the state (60th nationally), followed by Lewis and Clark College (71st) and Linfield (118th).


Reed College has been named the best overall academic experience for undergraduates in the US by The Princeton Review. Reed make the Princeton Review’s top 50 “best value” list in 2009.

Willamette University is a Top 60 liberal arts school in the US. Its MBA is among the Princeton Review’s “Best 290 Business Schools” for the fourth year in a row.

Lewis and Clark College is ranked 1st for "Least Religious Students", according to The Princeton Review 2009 Edition of Best 368 Colleges.

Best Philosophy Doctoral Programs

Princeton Department of Philosophy is the best in the country, ranked top in the NRC study of Research-Doctorate Programs in the US, and also ranked first in the US News Ranking 2009. The Department of Philosophy, in cooperation with other departments, participates in two interdepartmental programs of graduate study: classical philosophy and political philosophy. it offers a wide range of courses such as The Philosophy of Plato, Pre-Kantian Rationalism, German Philosophy Since Kant, Philosophical Problems in Logic, etc.

Princeton

The Department of Philosophy at Pittsburgh is one of the best in the US. It offers a number of graduate courses: Analytic Philosophy, Moral Psychology, Metaphysics, Topics in Ethics, etc. It requires a minimum of 24 courses for the PhD degree. Each student must successfully complete a graduate seminar in each of the following areas: (i) metaphysics and epistemology, (ii) ethics, (iii) philosophy of science.

According to the US News rankings of Liberal Arts Colleges, Kalamazoo College is ranked first in the state and 60th nationally in 2009, followed by Hope College (88th nationally), Hillsdale College (98th nationally).

Founded in 1833, Kalamazoo is among the 100 oldest institutions in the country. It is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. It is an institutional member of the American Council on Education, the College Entrance Examination Board, and the Association of American Colleges. Kalamazoo study abroad program was ranked No. 1 in the country (US News & World Report America's Best Colleges 2003).

Hope College is placed in the first tier among National Liberal Arts Colleges, ranked 88th out of 265 institutions in the category. According to the US News Liberal Arts Rankings, United States Naval Academy is ranked first in the state and 22nd nationally in 2009, followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland (84th nationally), Washington College (94th), and Goucher College (111th).

St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) is named a "best value college" in The Princeton Review 2009 edition. It is is ranked as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country by US News & World Report, The Princeton Review, and Kiplinger’s.

According to the US News & World Report, Centre College is the highest ranked liberal arts college in the state for 2009 (#1 in Kentucky and #45 nationally), followed by Berea College (#68 nationally) and Transylvania (#77 nationally).

DePauw University is the highest ranked school in the state (#1 in Indiana and #49 nationally), followed by Wabash College (#54th nationally), Earlham College (67th), and Hanover College (98th).

According to the US News & World Report's Liberal Arts Rankings, Washington and Lee University is a Top 20 liberal arts schools in the nation, placed 17th nationally in 2009 (the highest ranked school in the state of Virginia). University of Richmond is ranked second best in the state (33rd nationally), followed by Virginia Military Institute (71st) and Sweet Briar College (84th).

Washington and Lee University achieved a top 20 position in the US News & World Report. It is rated 25th in the US News ranking of law schools 2008. Georgetown University was ranked as the best school offering international relations programs in the United States, according to the survey published in the March/April 2009 issue of Foreign Policy magazine, appear in the article “Inside the Ivory Tower”.

Georgetown was ranked No. 1 for "Top Master's Programs" in international relations for students looking to pursue careers in policy. The university offers Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and 6 master’s degree programs through the School of Foreign Service, including the Master of Science in Foreign Service program, as well as master’s degrees in security and regional studies.

Johns Hopkins University was ranked 2nd in the survey. The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University is one of the world’s top leading graduate schools in the field of international relations. It offers three degree programs: Master of Arts (M.A.) program in international relations, Master of International Public Policy (M.I.P.P.) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program.

Harvard University was ranked third best for its international relations programs. It offers the MPA in International Development with courses in quantitative methods, history and theory of development, governance, law, with an emphasis on policy and practice.

Tufts University was placed in the 4th position. The Fletcher School, a Graduate School of International Affairs at Tufts, offers degree programs such as Master of International Business, Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy, Master of Laws in International Law, Global Master of Arts Program and Doctor of Philosophy.

Columbia University was ranked fifth nationally. Japan JASSO Scholarship

Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) offers their JASSO Scholarship every year to qualified students of overseas institutions in mutual agreement with Japanese universities. It is awarded by the Japanese Government for students going on exchange overseas.

The successful recipients will receive:

  • ¥80,000 monthly stipend for a specified duration of time (i.e. six months / one year)

  • ¥150,000 relocation allowance(upon arrival only) This new system will apply to all of the recipients who will start their study in Japan on and after April 1st 2006.
Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be eligible for the JASSO Scholarship, applications for both EPOK and JASSO Scholarship must be completed and submitted by the student to the student’s home university. The student’s home university will then send the application to (Japan's) University by the deadline date.

The following conditions must also be satisfied:
  • The student is of non-Japanese nationality.
  • The student’s home university and (Japan's) University are in mutual exchange agreement.
  • The students are in good academic standing at their home universities.
  • The student has adequate financial support for study in Japan.
  • The student will resume study at their home university upon completion of the exchange.
  • The student is eligible for a College Student Status Visa (a requirement for study in Japan).
  • It is the first time for the student to receive the JASSO Scholarship. Students must not have previously been recipients of the scholarship.

This is a Government-to-Government scheme without any bond imposed by the Singapore Government. Citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the Singapore Scholarship. In addition the applicants are expected to have good command of English and possess outstanding academic record. The recipients of the Singapore Scholarship are expected to return home to contribute to the development of their countries upon graduation.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees and a living allowance of S$4,200 per annum. In addition, an accommodation allowance based on the different room rates at each university will be provided.

ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships (AUS) are offered by the National University of Singapore (NUS) to award full-time NUS undergraduates who have outstanding academic merit and co-curricular activities.

It is awarded to freshmen based on academic merit. These freshmen must be citizens or permanent residents of a member of ASEAN countries (excluding Singapore citizens): Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides an annual living allowance of S$5,800. The scholarship is tenable for the minimum period of candidature for the respective undergraduate courses at NUS. The University does not provide any assistance towards travel or other costs.
 
The scholarship is open to students from all faculties. However there are limited scholarships for students who wish to pursue highly competitive courses like Medicine, Dentistry and Law.

It covers the entire duration of undergraduate studies on condition that scholars maintain a minimum CAP (Cumulative Average Point) of 3.5.

According to the university ranking by The Times 2010, Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial remained the same Top 3 positions as the 2009 league table. St Andrews moved up a place to Top 4 in the UK. Durham maintained its position as the Top 8 institution.

Ranking Analysis:
- UCL up two places to Top 5 nationally.
- LSE dropped from 4th to 7th this year.
- Exeter made it to Top 10, up from 13th last year.
- Sheffield made it to Top 20 (up four places from 22nd).

There are about 30 Russian medical universities ranked in the Top 100 medical  universities in international rankings by UNESCO and World Health Organization. Following are the highest ranked higher education instituions in the league tables:

Moscow Medical Academy:
Moscow Medical Academy is the 2nd Best medical university in the world (behind Rene Descartes Academy of Medical Sciences), according to the international rating by the UNESCO and World Health Organization (WHO).

The I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (MMA) is the largest and the oldest national medical higher educational institution. It has about 9,000 students from Russia and foreign countries including India studying at the academy. Students are trained in the following area:

  • Pharmacy (Russian and French medium)
  • Preventive Medicine
  • Stomatology

Russian State Medical University:
Founded in 1906, Russian State Medical University (formerly the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute) is ranked as 3rd BEST medical university globally by WHO and UNESCO rankings.
