University of Miami - Rankings

Established in 1925, The University of Miami (UM,or Miami) is a top private research university located in the U.S. state of Florida.

The University has the following schools/colleges: School of Architecture; College of Arts and Sciences; School of Business Administration; School of Communication; School of Education; College of Engineering; School of Law; Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science; Miller School of Medicine; Frost School of Music; School of Nursing and Health Studies; The Graduate School.

The School of Nursing and Health Studies was designated as a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Nursing Collaborating Centre.

The University of Miami is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

- U.S.News & World Report recognized University of Miami among the top-tier of national universities, ranking it 47th in its listings of “America's Best Colleges" 2011.

- The graduate program in tax law is placed 6th nationwide; and the Department of Psychology's clinical psychology program is ranked 25th out of 206 programs nationwide (USNWR “America's Best Graduate Schools” issue 2010).

- University of Miami is ranked 101-151st globally in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2010.

- Ranked 235th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2010.

- Rated 479th in the Forbes Magazine's 2009 rankings of 600 undergraduate institutions.

- Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is rated as the 51st best medical school in the nation. The School of Law is rated as the 71st best law school in the nation (2009 US News rankings).

- Listed as one of the 141 "Best Southeastern Colleges" in the 2009 edition of Best 371 Colleges by The Princeton Review. Additionally it is ranked 1st in the "Lots of Race/Class Interaction" category.

- 40th for Best Values in Private Colleges (Kiplinger.com 2008).

- Rated 32nd best graduate program in philosophy in the nation (2008 Philosophical Gourmet Report).

- UM's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute was ranked the No. 1 hospital in the country for ophthalmology in the annual survey of “America's Best Hospitals” published in U.S.News & World Report.
