Top Universities in Virginia

Three universities in the state of Virginia are ranked among the Top 100 tier 1 National Universities in the country by the US News & World Report, with the University of Virginia placed first in the state and 23rd nationally in 2009. College of William and Mary is placed 32nd nationally, followed by Virginia Tech (71st nationally).

The University of Virginia is one of the world's top 100 institutions, ranked highly in the international league tables:
- 96th in the world by THES rankings of Top 200 Universities 2008.
- 95th globally in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2008.
- 45th in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2009.

According to the U.S. News & World Report 2010 Rankings, Univ of Virginia is ranked in the Top 20 nationally for the following programs:
