Alabama A&M University Profile

Founded in 1875, Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (Alabama A&M University or AAMU) is a public land-grant university located in Normal, Madison County, Alabama (USA). It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to offer the Bachelors, Masters, Specialist and Doctoral degrees. It is also a member school of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund.

The university offers academic programs through the following Schools:
- School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
- School of Arts and Sciences
- School of Business
- School of Education
- School of Engineering and Technology
- Graduate School

The School of Business is a member of the AACSB International. It is organized into the following departments: the Department of Accounting and Business Education; the Department of Economics and Finance; and the Department of Management and Marketing. The school offers bachelor degrees in accounting; business administration; business education; economics; finance; management; and marketing. Minors are offered in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management, and marketing. Master degrees offered include the MBA, and Master of Education. Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree is offered in business education.

The School of Arts and Sciences offers a variety of undergraduate programs and graduate programs such as the biology (M.S.), social work (M.S.), physics (M.S.), and applied physics (Ph.D.).

The School of Engineering and Technology offers Masters Degree programs in Engineering, Computer Science and Industrial Technology; and the Bachelor of Science degree programs in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Technology and Construction Management.

The Teacher Education Programs are accredited by NCATE and approved by the Alabama State Board of Education.
