University of Northern Iowa (UNI) is a quality, state-supported university located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, United States. UNI was first accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) as a teacher-training institution in 1913. It has been continuously accredited as a four-year institution since 1930.

The University is a 2008 recipient of The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, annually recognizes institutions of higher education for their commitment to and achievement in community service.

Ranking Profile:

- University of Northern Iowa is ranked 15th in Tier 1 in the category "Regional Universities (Midwest)" by US News 2011. It is one of only three public institutions to make the list of top-20 Midwest regionals.

- UNI is one of the country's most environmentally-responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review. The University was included in “The Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges”.

- The University of Northern Iowa was selected by G.I. Jobs Magazine as a Military Friendly School for 2010, an honor placing the university in the top 15 % of schools nationwide doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students.
