BASIS Charter School was ranked #1 in 2008 and 2009 among the Top 1300 High Schools in America, according to the Newsweek Magazine's Annual High School Ranking.  BASIS Tucson is a grades 5-12 college preparatory charter school with the school year divided into trimesters.

The School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center was rated #1 public high school in the United States by Newsweek in 2006 and 2007, and moved to #2 in 2008. TAG was ranked 14th among Gold Medal Schools and 3rd among magnet schools in the US, according to the US News & World Report's ranking of the best high schools 2007. It was also ranked as the best public school in the area by D MAGAZINE.

Suncoast Community High School is a public magnet high school in America, ranked 7th in 2006, 5th in 2007 and jumped up to Top 3 in 2008 ranking of Best High Schools in America by Newsweek. It was ranked #51 among Top High Schools in America by U.S. News and World Report.

City Honors School at Fosdick-Masten Park is the 11th best high school in Newsweek's list of America's Best High Schools in 2008, moving up a place from 9th in 2007. It was named top public high school and middle school in Western New York by Business First.
