Swansea University World Top Ranking

Swansea University is a top leading university located in Wales (UK), consistently ranked among the World's Top 500 Universities in the international league tables. It is also placed among the Top 20 Universities in the UK for teaching quality and student satisfaction.

Ratings and Rankings:

- Ranked 347th in the world, according to the 2008 Times Higher Education Supplement of World University Rankings (placed 383rd in 2006 and 401-500 in 2007).

- Placed in the rank range of 402-503rd globally in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University World Rankings 2008.

- 95th in the Guardian University Guide 2010, placed 83rd in 2009.

- 52nd in the RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) 2008 - Times Higher Education Table of Excellence.

- 47th in the Daily Telegraph University Ranking 2007.

- 50th in The Times Good University Guide 2010 (placed 48th in 2009 and 46th in 2008).

- 56th in the Complete University Guide 2010 (placed 47th in 2009 and 2010).

- 36th nationally in the RAE 2008, based on ‘research power’ ranking (research excellence and volume of staff). 11% of research achieved the highest category of ‘world-leading’ (4*).

- 100% of the research work undertaken by Economics Department was deemed to be of an international standard (RAE 2008).

- Top 10 nationally for best Student Experience, according to The Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, published on 15 January 2009.

- Swansea Law School achieved excellent results in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2008, ranked 1st among Law Schools in Wales and shares 11th place among Law Schools in the UK with a score of 94% in the Survey.

- Ranked No. 1 in Wales and among the top five Economics departments in the UK for student satisfaction, with 93% of full-time students satisfied with their course (NSS 2009).

- Winner of the Times Higher Award 2005 for the best student experience in the UK.

- Rated 16th for 'Teaching Satisfaction' in the 2005 Sunday Times University Guide.

- The Chemical and Biological Process Engineering department was rated as Top in Britain in the Guardian league table 2001.

- The Civil Engineering department is the only one of two Civil Engineering departments in the UK to hold the top 5* and 'Excellent' teaching grades.
