Top Undergraduate Engineering Programs

Harvey Mudd College (HMC) is rated No. 1 among the nation’s undergraduate engineering programs in U.S.News & World Report’s 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges”, moving up from No. 2 in 2009.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is another best ranked college that offers the bachelor's or master's degree as its top degree in engineering. Its Computer Science and Software Engineering program is the only ABET accredited Software Engineering program in the state of Indiana.

The Albert Nerken School of Engineering at Cooper Union is one of the best in the nation, offering degree programs in civil, chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering, an interdisciplinary B.E. degree and a general B.S.E. degree. The B.E. degrees in civil, chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering are all accredited by ABET.

United States Naval Academy is place among the top 5 Undergraduate Engineering schools. Six of the Naval Academy's engineering majors are professionally accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation board for Engineering ad Technology (ABET).

United States Air Force Academy tied for 6th in the nation for having the best undergraduate engineering program. It is placed 2nd in mechanical engineering, with Rose- Hulman being 1st. It is also rated 2nd nationally in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. The Academy is in 2nd place for electrical, electronic and communications engineering, behind only Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Overall, it was named the best baccalaureate college in the west.

Villanova University is ranked 10th in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs category for schools that award primarily bachelor’s and master’s degrees. It is ranked No. 1 in the North Region/Master’s category, and has been recognized in a number of other categories, including “Strong Commitment to Teaching” and “First-Year Experience”. The undergraduate programs of Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are accredited by the Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET.
