Western State College of Colorado
Western State College of Colorado is a four-year public liberal arts college located in the U.S. state of Colorado. It was founded in 1901 as The Colorado State Normal School for Children. Western has been ranked highly in Forbes magazine’s list of top public colleges and universities in the nation.
The College offers a range of academic programs and majors including Accounting, Anthropology, Art, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Communication and Theatre, Computer Information Science, Economics, Education (Teacher Licensure), English, Environmental Studies, Exercise and Sport Science, Geology, History, Mathematics, Music, Outdoor Leadership and Resort Management, Psychology, etc. Minors include Coaching, French, Geography, Journalism, Philosophy, Physics, Politics and Government Pre-Law Minor.
It offers two Comprehensive Majors in Accounting (Professional and Finance), a Standard Major and an Accounting minor. The Professional Emphasis in Accounting is specifically designed to meet the needs of students who wish to enter public accounting and obtain their CPA certification.
The Teacher Education Program is accredited by the Colorado Department of Education, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council. Western State College of Colorado is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
There are many opportunities for financial aid at Western. They offer a wide range of grants, loans and scholarships for incoming students

It is placed 5th among the 11 Colorado colleges and universities on the list. The rankings are based on student satisfaction and success, faculty reputation, cost-effectiveness, and alumni success.
