Universities & Colleges in Colorado

According to the US News ranking of Best National Universities, four institutions from the state of Colorado are ranked at Tier 1, with three in the Top 100 list nationally. University of Colorado--Boulder is ranked 1st in the state and 77th in the country in 2009, followed by Colorado School of Mines (80th nationally), University of Denver (89th) and Colorado State University (125th).

University of Colorado--Boulder is ranked in the World Top 50, placed 49th globally in the Webometrics ranking of World Universities in 2008. Its Undergraduate Engineering Programs are ranked 35th, and the Graduate Engineering Programs are ranked 39th overall by the US News and World Report 2009.

Colorado College has been rated 10th in Consumers Digest's "Best Values for Private Liberal Arts Schools" list. It is also placed 7th among small schools and universities with alumni serving as Peace Corps volunteers.

Colorado Technical University is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Mesa State College is designated as Baccalaureate-Arts and Sciences as part of the Carnegie classification of higher education institutions.

Metropolitan State College of Denver has been ranked 1st in the state for the ethnic diversity of its faculty, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Colorado School of Mines is consistently placed as one of the Top Graduate Schools by U.S.News and World Report. It has been rated 6th among top 200 U.S. universities in growth of global scientific publishing in a National Science Foundation study.

Fort Lewis College is placed among the top 50 on the Forbes list of “America’s Best Public Colleges”, ranked 41st on the list of the top 100 public universities and colleges in the US (2009).

Western State College of Colorado is placed 30th on Forbes’ list of Top 100 Public Colleges and Universities for 2009.

Colorado State University - Pueblo is rated Number One among the Top 28 Best Buys in Online College Degrees for its distance bachelor's in social science and sociology, according to GetEducated.com.

Johnson & Wales University is included in the top 10 cooking schools in North America from a survey conducted by CookingSchoolsCompared.com.

Jones International University has been ranked among the top five of the best online universities in the world.

University of Colorado Denver is ranked highly for its medicine programs. The School of Medicine is rated 9th among primary care medical schools and 31st among research medical schools in the country.

University of Northern Colorado School of Music is one of the larger and most successful programs within the university, rated 63rd nationally in the NRC ranking of doctoral degree programs in Music.

United States Air Force Academy has been placed first among schools of business with undergraduate degrees only and 12th in the nation among schools of business where a doctorate is not offered (US News).

Westwood College is placed among the top 10 online colleges by OEDb, ranked 9th in the 2008 Online College Rankings.

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is placed in the top tier of all public and private master's universities in the West.

University of Denver Daniels College of Business is placed among the Top 50 business schools internationally for integrating social and environmental issues into its MBA program in Beyond Grey Pinstripes, an alternative ranking of business schools by The Aspen Institute.
