Student Satisfaction Ratings
In the UK, National Student Survey is designed to assess the levels of satisfaction among higher education students at institutions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Student satisfaction rating is widely used as one of the performance indicators in university league tables such as the Times Online Good University Guide.
The following institutions have achieved outstanding ranking performance in Student Satisfaction Survey:
University of Wollongong (Australia)
Rated 1st for overall satisfaction among Australian university students in the independent Sweeney Research Group's 2009 'Uni Student Report'. The top five universities on the overall “Sweeney Student Satisfaction Ranking” are: Wollongong (1st), Australian National University (2nd), La Trobe University (3rd), University of Southern Queensland (4th), Queensland University of Technology (5th).
St. Francis Xavier University (Canada)
The University has the highest student satisfaction in Canada; 95% of students said they would choose to return to StFX (Maclean's 2009). It offers what so many of Canadian top students are seeking: a high quality education in a vibrant residential setting.
Acadia University (Canada)
It was the highest ranked undergraduate university in Nova Scotia, placing in the top three in 2008 University Rankings released by Maclean's magazine. It also received an A for overall satisfaction according to the Globe and Mail's Canadian University Report - the largest Canadian survey of undergraduate students. The report asks students to rate their own campuses on about 100 distinct elements of university life.
Aberystwyth University (UK)
Aberystwyth offers the best all-round student experience in the country. It is rated 1st in Wales and top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction in the Times High Education's 2009 Student Experience Survey. It is also placed No. 1 in the UK for student satisfaction for Physics teaching in the 2009 Guardian Student Satisfaction Survey. 94% of physics students are satisfied with the quality of teaching they receive at Aberystwyth.
University of Leicester (UK)
Ranked joint 1st with Cambridge for student satisfaction among mainstream English universities teaching full-time students (National Student Survey, 2009). Leicester received a 100% or near 100% satisfaction rating in certain subject areas: In Physiology 100 per cent of students were satisfied; Politics and Chemistry (98 per cent); and in Spanish, within the School of Modern Languages and Geology 97 per cent.
Open University (UK)
- Students at The Open University remain more satisfied with the quality of their higher education than those at any other university, according to the results of the NSS 2006. Survey results have been issued by the Higher Education Funding Council for England; the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales; the Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland; and National Union of Students.
