Top Internal Medicine Programs

The Department of Internal Medicine at Yale is among the nation's premier departments, with a wide array of programs in research, clinical care, and education. Yale School of Medicine is ranked in the top 10 nationally for internal medicine in the U.S. News & World Report’s Medical Specialty Rankings 2011.

For the 17th year, the University of Washington School of Medicine is rated 1st among U.S. medical schools in primary care by U.S. News 2011. The school is also placed 1st in both rural medicine and family medicine, and 6th in internal medicine.

The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine is ranked in the top 4 for the specialty. The Division of General Internal Medicine was established within the Department of Medicine in 1978. The division's research program has established the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

The Duke Internal Medicine Residency program has a focus on academic (evidence-based medicine) and clinical training, and is recognized nationally for its innovation, rigor, and excellence.
