The University of Tennessee, Knoxville - It is among the nation’s most environmentally responsible institutions, according to The Princeton Review, one of the nation’s top education service and evaluation companies. It is one of only five universities in Tennessee to be included in the guidebook, “Guide to 286 Green Colleges,” and is mentioned for its “Make Orange Green” program and other initiatives.
Bucknell University - It has been named among the top 286 colleges and universities in The Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges. The guide, published in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizes universities and colleges that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainability.
The University of North Carolina at Asheville - UNC Asheville has received high accolade in the Blue Ridge Outdoors "Cool Schools" rankings, which examined the ways that campuses are practicing environmental sustainability. In a survey of 48 colleges and universities, UNC Asheville and Warren Wilson College tied for first place as the greenest small college in a five-state region.
Carnegie Mellon University - Sierra Magazine has ranked Carnegie Mellon University the 10th "Coolest" School in its November/December 2007. The ranking stems from the university's efforts around combating global warming and creating a greener campus. This is the first year the magazine has conducted a survey on college and university green practices, taking into account everything from green-building policies and clean-energy purchases to campus food quality and bike facilities.
Oregon State University - The University’s leadership in environmentally responsible practices has earned it a spot in the Kaplan College Guide 2009’s list of America’s top 25 “green colleges”. OSU is the only Oregon university on the list. The University of Washington is the only other institution included from the Pacific Northwest.
The University of Maryland - It has been named one of the Top 15 Green Colleges and Universities by Grist, an online environmental magazine based in Seattle. UM is the only state flagship university on the list that also includes schools in other countries.
