University of Reading - Rankings

The University of Reading is a top ranking UK university for research. It is consistently one of the most popular higher education choices in the UK.

The Department of Meteorology was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2005.

Rankings:

- University of Reading is ranked 45th nationally in the Guardian University Guide 2011.

- Ranked 40th in the Complete University Guide 2011.

- Ranked 579th in the world (Webometrics Ranking, January 2010).

- Archaeology at University of Reading is placed 5th in the UK, behind only Cambridge, Durham, Oxford and UCL (Times 2010).

- 36th in the UK (Sunday Times 2010 University Guide rankings).

- Results of the National Student Survey (NSS) tabulated in The Times Good University Guide 2010 shows Archaeology at Reading in joint top place with Archaeology Departments in York and Exeter.

- Placed among the global top 200 universities (191st) in the QS World University Rankings™ 2009. In addition it is ranked 192nd for Arts & Humanities, 261st for Natural Sciences, and 285th for Life Sciences & Biomedicine.

- University of Reading is rated in the range 201-302nd globally in the SJTU Academic Ranking of World Universities 2009.

- Over 87% of the University’s research were rated as of international standing in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). Both the departments of Archaeology and Typography & Graphic Communication were ranked 2nd in the UK in their respective areas. The University’s Philosophy department was the 3rd best research-related department (ahead of both Oxford and Cambridge), while the department of Italian Studies produced the 4th best research. The Henley Business School’s School of Real Estate and Planning was ranked in the top two Real Estate schools in the Town and Country Planning unit of assessment.
