Wilmington University is a private, non-sectarian university offering both undergraduate and graduate-level degree programs in a wide range of areas. It also offers a wide array of online learning options, including fully-online degree programs and hybrid courses and programs (combining face-to-face and online learning).

The University has the following colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, College of Technology.

Wilmington University is fully accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association. The University programs have been approved for training of eligible veterans and international students.

All nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The MS in Community Counseling program is fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and other Related Educational Programs (CACREP). All teacher preparation programs are approved by the State of Delaware and are fully accredited by NCATE (National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education). The Division of Business is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
