Founded in 1867, Chicago State University (CSU) is a fully accredited, public, urban, commuter and residential institution located in the U.S. state of Illinois.

The university offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree-granting programs through the following colleges: Health Sciences, Arts and Science, Business, Education, and Pharmacy.

The College of Arts and Sciences consists of the following departments: Art and Design; African-American Studies; Biological Sciences; Chemistry and Physics; Communications, Media, Arts & Theatre; Criminal Justice; English; Foreign Languages and Literatures; Geography, Sociology, Economics, and Anthropology; History, Philosophy, and Political Science; Liberal Studies; Mathematics and Computer Science; Master of Social Work; Music; Psychology.

The College of Education (COE) consists of the departments of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Foundations (ELCF); Reading, Elementary, Middle Grades, & Bilingual Education, (REMB); Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER); Library, Information and Media Studies (LIMS); Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Technology and Education (SETE).

Chicago State University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools - Higher Learning Commission (NCA HLC) and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The College of Business is accredited by ACSBP.

The baccalaureate program in Nursing (BSN) is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The baccalaureate program in Recreation is accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association/American Association for leisure and Recreation Council on Accreditation. The Masters in Social Work Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The professional entry-level masters and combined baccalaureate/masters level Occupational Therapy programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
