Korean Universities in Asian Rankings 2011

Korean Universities are ranked highly in the 2011 QS Asian university rankings. The top 3 Korean universities are: Seoul National University (6th in Asia), Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (11th) and Pohang University of Science And Technology (12th).

A total of nine institutions in South Korea ranked among the Asian Top 50. Yonsei University moved up one spot to 18th and Korea University up three spots to 26th. Sungkyunkwan University made a big jump of 16 places to 27th regionally. Kyunghee University jumped up 20 places to 42nd this year.  Hanyang University and Ewha Womans University are rated 44th and 45th respectively.

In the subject rankings of "Arts and Humanities", "Life Sciences and Medicine", and "Natural Sciences", Seoul National University is the highest ranked Korean institution (rated 6th regionally). In the subject of IT & Engineering, two institutions ranked in the Asian top 10: KAIST (6th), and Seoul National University (8th). In the subject of Social Sciences, Seoul National University is ranked 1st in South Korea and 5th in Asia.
