University of Oxford is ranked No. 1 among the best universities in the UK, according to the Times Good University Guide 2012. LSE is ranked in the top 3 nationally, up from 5th in the 2011 league table.
Lancaster University has strengthened its position in the elite group of top 10 UK universities in The Times Good University Guide 2012, ranked 9th overall out of over 100 universities. In the subject rankings, Accounting and Finance is ranked 2nd in the UK and Business Studies at 6th. Student satisfaction is also ranked 12th in the UK.
The University of Sussex has surged into the top 20 universities for 2012, a climb of 21 places in two years. There are nine Sussex subjects rated in the UK Top 10: American Studies (5th); Anatomy and Physiology (4th); Anthropology (9th); Education (7th); History of Art (5th); Physics (10th); Psychology (6th); Social Work (3rd); and Sociology (9th). A further 13 subject areas are rated in the top 20 nationally: Biological Sciences (16th); Business Studies (20th); Chemistry (12th); Communication and Media Studies (12th); Computer Science (15th); Drama, Dance and Cinematics (11th); English (19th); History (11th); Linguistics (15th); Mathematics (20th); Music (14th); Philosophy (13th); Politics (17th).
The University of Reading is ranked 33rd overall, a rise of two places on the previous year. In addition, the University is ranked 2nd in the UK for town planning, land and property management (Department of Real Estate and Planning) and agriculture. Also rated in the top 10 are archaeology, art and design (departments of Art and Typography & Graphic Communication), construction, education, food science and law.
