Ranking Web of World Universities 2011

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is ranked No. 1 in the world, followed by Harvard University (2nd) and Stanford University (3rd), according to the July 2011 Ranking Web of World Universities.

In Asia, there are seven institutions ranked in the global top 100, with National Taiwan University rated 1st in Asia and 24th in the world, ahead of University of Tokyo (2nd regionally and 34th globally), and Kyoto University (3rd regionally and 56th globally).

A total of 4 European institutions ranked in the world's top 50:
- University of Cambridge is the only European institution ranked in the global top 20 (at #16).
- The University of Oxford is ranked 2nd in Europe and 27th in the world.
- University of Southampton is rated 44th internationally, down from 32nd in the January 2011 ranking.
- University College London is rated 46th internationally.
