Top Schools for Veterans

Following are some of the top schools for veterans:

University of Rochester - The University ranked 4th on the list of the 30 best private universities in the nation for veterans, according to GI Bill Hub, a resource for veterans pursuing higher education. The 2010 ranking considered the amount of tuition assistance provided to veterans as well as the school's overall prestige.

Pennsylvania State University - Penn State's World Campus is named a best school for veterans in Military Times EDGE's first-ever Best for Vets: Colleges 2010 survey. In addition, Penn State has been honored with the 2009 Ray Ehrensberger Award for Institutional Excellence in Military Education.

Lone Star College System (LSCS) - It is one of the largest colleges in the U.S. for the number of veteran students it serves. LSCS was ranked in the top 15 colleges nationwide, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. It was one of only two colleges in Texas on the top 15 list for veterans, the other was Central Texas College located in Killeen, home of the U.S. Army's Fort Hood facility.

Ohio State University - It has been recognized as one of the country's top schools for veterans, according to G.I. Jobs magazine. The magazine ranks Ohio State as a military-friendly school and places the campus in the top 15 % of all colleges nationwide.

University of Wyoming (UW) - Military Times Edge ranks the University of Wyoming in the top 20 colleges and universities on its list of the best schools for veterans. It is ranked 18th among the top 100 schools listed in the "Best For Vets Colleges" list. UW received 4.5 stars out of 5 in financial assistance and 4 stars each for academic flexibility and support services.
