University of Oslo is the highest ranked university in Norway (rated 181st in the world) according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-2012. The University of Bergen is ranked 2nd in Norway and 191st in the world, followed by Norwegian University of Science and Technology (251-275th) and University of Tromsø (276-300th).

The University of Bergen is also ranked highly in the QS World University Rankings 2011, with an overall rank of 121st in the world.
