The University of East London (UEL) and The Open University (UK) offer high quality top-up degree programmes in the field of social work:
University of East London - The BA (Hons) Social Work Studies programme is designed for qualified social workers who want to both top up their DipSW (or equivalent) to degree level and gain the post qualifying award in social work, building on their professional experience. It can be completed as a full-time programme in one year with two Modules undertaken in each semester or it can be taken as a part time programme over 1 1/2-3 years. UEL is rated as the London's leading modern (post-1992) university, and among the top five modern universities in the UK, according to the Guardian University Guide 2005/06.
The Open University - For those who already hold a Diploma in Social Work and are registered as a qualified social worker, they can top up their Diploma to honours degree in just two years or less. Only those who have successfully completed a professional qualification in social work at a UK Higher Education institution and are registered with the appropriate UK Care Council are eligible for this degree: BA (Hons) Social Work Studies. The OU is one of a handful of universities to have won University Challenge twice, in 1985 and 1999.
