Top Universities in Southeast Asia

National University of Singapore is ranked No. 1 among the top universities and colleges in South East Asia, according to the Webometrics rankings (January 2012).

Kasetsart University is the best university in Thailand, ranked 1st in the country and 2nd in the region, followed by Chulalongkorn University (3rd in the region) and Mahidol University (4th in the region). A total of 6 institutions in Thailand ranked among the top 10 universities in South East Asia. The others are: Prince of Songkla University (5th regionally), Khon Kaen University (6th regionally), and Chiang Mai University (7th regionally).

Mahidol University is also ranked highly in the international league tables:
- Ranked in the Top 500 Universities in terms of Scientific Publications by the HEEACT.
- Ranked 220th in the THE-QS World University Ranking 2009. In the QS Asian Rankings 2010, Mahidol was ranked at 28th, top among Thai universities.

Universitas Gadjah Mada is the highest ranked institution in Indonesia, rated 1st in the country and 8th in Southeast Asia, followed by Institute of Technology Bandung (2nd in Indonesia and 9th in Southeast Asia).

In Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia is ranked top in the country and 12th in Southeast Asia, followed by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (13th) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (14th).
