Top 10 Universities in Pakistan

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has just released the ranking of top universities in Pakistan for 2012. Ranking criteria include Implementation status of Quality Assurance, Teaching Quality (Student Teacher Ratio, Total PhD output for 2010, Ratio of PhD faculty to total faculty, Computers, Library books etc), Research Facilities, Number of Papers Published by the University, etc.

HEC Top 10 Universities in Pakistan:
1 Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad
2 Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences
3 Aga Khan University, Karachi
4 University of Agriculture, Faisalabad
5 University of The Punjab, Lahore
6 National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST)
7 Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University
8 University of Health Sciences, Lahore
9 COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT)
10 Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore

In another international rankings (Ranking Web of World Universities, January 2012), University of the Punjab took the top spot in the country (ranked 1781st in the world), followed by Lahore University of Management Sciences (2nd nationally), National University of Sciences & Technology (3rd nationally), Aga Khan University (4th nationally) and University of Engineering & Technology Lahore (5th nationally). A total of 9 Pakistani institutions ranked in the global top 3000. The others are: Government College University Lahore (2489th internationally), University of Peshawar (2517th internationally), Bahauddin Zakariya University (2917th internationally), and Agricultural University Peshawar (2963rd internationally).
