Imperial College in RAE 2008 Ratings

Imperial College London is regarded as a world's top research institution, with 73% of the College’s staff have had their research judged as world-leading or internationally excellent (4* and 3*), the highest percentage of all UK multi-faculty universities, according to the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) results published in 2008.

RAE 2008 Outcomes:

- Imperial College Business School and Faculty of Engineering are rated Top in the UK (based on proportion of 4* and 3* research).

- Faculty of Medicine is placed 2nd in the UK (based on volume of 4* research).

- Faculty of Natural Sciences is placed 2nd in the UK (based on proportion of 4* & 3* research).

* Rankings based on proportion of 4* research:

- Top in the UK for Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Epidemiology; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; History; and Pure Mathematics.
- 2nd in the UK for Bioengineering, Computing, Earth Science and Engineering.
- 3rd in the UK for Biological Sciences.

- 2nd in the UK for Electrical Engineering.
- 2nd in the UK for Statistics.
- 2nd in the UK for Physics.
- 3rd in the UK for Chemistry.
