Bournemouth named Top New University

Bournemouth University (BU) is ranked as one of the top new universities in the UK by a number of league tables, named as the best new University in ‘The Guardian’; 3rd in ‘The Independent’; and 3rd in ‘The Times’.

The university has the following schools:
- The School of Conservation Sciences
- The Media School
- The School Design, Engineering & Computing
- The Business School
- The School of Health and Social Care
- The School of Services Management

Rankings and Ratings:

- No. 1 among all the new universities in the nation, placed 38th overall in the Guardian University Guide (2009). It is also placed highly in the subject league tables:
- 1st for Tourism, Transport and Travel courses.
- 4th for Sports Science
- 5th for Engineering – General
- 8th for Media
- placed in the Top 10 list of ‘modern’ universities in the Sunday Times University Guide 2008. It is rated 65th overall out of 120 institutions.

- 32nd in the Guardian University Guide 2010.

- 62nd in the RAE 2008 ranking of computer science and informatics.

- 35th in the Times Ranking of Hospitality; Leisure; Sport; Recreation and Tourism Programs 2009 (joint 35th with Oxford Brookes).

- 24th in Art and Design, 37th for Drama, Dance and Cinematics (Times 2009).

- 75th in the RAE 2008 Rating.

- 31st in General Engineering (Times 2008).

- 66th in the Daily Telegraph University Ranking 2007.

- 57th in the The Times Good University Guide 2009.
