Middlebury College is a Top 5 liberal arts college in the nation and it is the only Vermont college ranked in the Top 100 list by US News & World Report 2009. 

Middlebury College is rated 5th best among all liberal arts schools by US News. It is ranked 17th in the 2008 Forbes Magazine ranking of American colleges, which combines liberal arts colleges and national research universities together in one list.

The Princeton Review 2009 ranks the Middlebury highly in the following categories:
