Birmingham City University - Rankings
Birmingham City University (formerly Birmingham Polytechnic and the University of Central England in Birmingham) is a leading Modern University in the UK. It is described as a ‘rising star' research institution, with the highest percentage of work rated as world leading compared to any other modern university in the country in the latest RAE survey. It is a member of the million+ group of New Universities.
Rankings and Ratings:
- 63rd in the Guardian University Guide 2010.
- 71st in The Times Good University Guide 2009.
- 56th in the Guardian University League Table 2009. It is also placed highly in the following subject areas:
- 65th nationally in the RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) 2008 .
- Birmingham Institute of Art and Design is one of the top ten UK art and design research institutions. In the RAE 2008 Art and Design is placed among the top 10 submissions in the nation. Birmingham Conservatoire was rated as one of the top three conservatoires.
- In the Complete University Guide, it is ranked 67th in 2008, 69th in 2009 and 59th in 2010.
- In the league tables compiled by the Centre for Education and Employment Research (CEER) in 2008, it is rated 7th for secondary teacher training and 9th for primary teacher training.
- Placed among top 20 institutions for architecture, building and planning courses with an 80% student satisfaction rate in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2008.
