Vanguard University of Southern California

Vanguard University of Southern California is a leading private, coeducational, comprehensive university located in Costa Mesa, California, USA. It was founded in Los Angeles in 1920 as a Bible training institute.

The University's academic structure is organized under two major groupings: Professional and Graduate Studies; College of Arts and Sciences. It offers a 4-year Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and a number of Master's degrees including a Master of Arts in Education, a Master of Arts in Religion, a Master of Theological Studies, and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology.

Vanguard University (VU) is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The RN-to-BSN degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The university is a member of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and Associate Member of Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.


- Placed in the top five of the best baccalaureate colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report's America’s Best Colleges 2010 guidebook. It is ranked 5th in the western region. The rankings take into account assessments by administrators at peer institutions, faculty resources, retention of students, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and average graduation rate.

- 4th among baccalaureate colleges in the western region of the United States (US News 2009).

- Selected by U.S. News & World Report as a “Great Schools, Great Prices” college. VU is placed 7th in the West among baccalaureate colleges in this category (USNWR 2009).

- The Princeton Review named VU a 2008 Best Western College.

- Placed in the top ten comprehensive colleges in the west in 2006 and 2007 (USNWR).
