Jacksonville State University Profile

Jacksonville State University (JSU) is a public university located in the U.S. state of Alabama. It was founded in 1883 as Jacksonville State Normal School.

JSU has the following Colleges:
- College of Education and Professional Studies
- College of Nursing and Health Sciences
- College of Arts and Sciences
- College of Commerce and Business Administration
- The College of Graduate Studies

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest at JSU, offering courses in humanities, arts, and sciences, as well as professional and graduate programs leading to the award of baccalaureate and master's degrees.

The University offers a number of graduate programs, including the Master of Arts (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Science (MS), Master of Science in Education (MS.Ed), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Educational Specialist (Ed.S.).

It also offers Distance Education programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Online Bachelor degree programs include the Bachelor of Science in Business/Management, Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management, Bachelor of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child Development. Online Master degree programs include the MBA, Master of Science in Computer Systems and Software Design, Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Emergency Management, Master of Science in Emergency Management, Master of Public Administration in Geographical Information Systems, Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Sport Management, Master of Science in Education in Physical Education, Master of Science in Sport Management, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Technology.

The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The College of Commerce and Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

- Placed in Tier 3 among Master's Universities in the South (US News & World Report 2010).

- 2nd for "Greatest Opportunity for Women" in the Princeton Review Best Business Schools Rankings 2008.
