Accredited Distance Learning Degrees

There are many universities and colleges offering online or distance learning degree programs, and it is very important to ensure that the qualifications awarded are from accredited institutions. In the US, there are six regional accrediting agencies that are recognized by both the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), namely:
- New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
- North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
- Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA)
- Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS)
- Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
- Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NWCCU)

In addition some online schools are accredited by national accrediting agencies such as the follows:
- Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)
- Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET)
- Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSCT)
- Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)
- Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE)
- Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools (AARTS)
- Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS)
- Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS)
- American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE)

Some of the most prestigious and world-renowned online universities are University of London, University of Phoenix, Capella, to name a few. The following universities are offering accredited distance learning degrees in a range of academic disciplines:

Warwick Business School offers a Distance MBA which is placed Number One in the UK according to The Economist's. It was the first UK provider to receive three accreditations from EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA.

The University of Tennessee offers a Distance Learning Executive MBA for executives to earn a degree while continuing their existing career.

The University of London offers a wide range of Distance Learning MSc Programmes in International Business, Environmental Management, Finance, Accounting, History (MA), and many more.

The Open University is the UK's only university dedicated to distance learning, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Business, Education, Mathematics and Statistics, Spanish, Social Sciences, etc.

Northcentral University offers online psychology degree programs in a variety of concentrations,.

Penn Foster College offers a range of online Associate and Bachelor's Degrees which can be completed at home and at your own pace.

Michigan Technological University offers distance learning engineering degrees is accredited by the ABET.

University of Leicester is one of the world's top 200 universities (according to THE-QS World University Rankings 2009), delivering distance learning master's degrees in a range of subject areas (including MSc Finance, TESOL, LLM) and the PhD Program in law.
