Lakehead University Profile
Lakehead University (LU) is a Canadian university located in Thunder Bay (Ontario), offering a broad range of degree and diploma programs in the following faculties: Business Administration; Engineering; Education; Forestry and the Forest Environment; Graduate Studies; Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences; Social Sciences and Humanities; Science and Environmental Studies; Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
The Faculty of Business Administration was one of only two undergraduate business programs in Ontario and one of only fourteen Canadian universities to receive full accreditation from the Society of Management Accountants in 2002.
The Faculty of Engineering offers unique engineering programs in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineering.
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), established in 2005, is the first new Canadian medical school to open in 35 years. It is also the first Canadian medical school established with a social accountability mandate.

- Received "A" for Class sizes, Faculty knowledge of subjects, and Sense of personal safety/security. An "A-" grade was awarded for Overall quality of education, Overall university atmosphere, and Computer accessibility on campus (Globe and Mail Report Card 2006).
- Rated as the Top Canadian University in “Value Added” category for fourth time (Maclean’s annual university ranking 2005). It is ranked 17 out of 21 primarily undergraduate universities.
