Cambridge University Engineering Department is one of the most prestigious in the world with outstanding reputation for its research and teaching. Graduates from Cambridge are always in great demand from employers in all the major industrial and commercial sectors.
The Cambridge Engineering courses cover all the major disciplines including: Aeronautical, Biomedical, Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Environmental, Information, Manufacturing, Mechanical and Structural. The Engineering courses normally last four years and lead to the degrees BA(Hons) and MEng.
All the four-year courses offered by the Cambridge Department of Engineering are fully accredited by one or more of the following bodies:
- the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine
- the Institution of Structural Engineers
- the Institution of Civil Engineers
- the Institution of Engineering and Technology

- 1st in the UK and 15th in the world for Engineering/Technology and Computer (Academic Ranking of World Universities 2009).
- Research in the Department received the top 5* rating in the Research Assessment Exercises (RAE) in both 1996 and 2001. It came top of the rankings for General Engineering in the RAE 2008. 90% of its research submission was judged to be either internationally excellent or world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
