Webometrics Ranking 2010

The webometrics ranking of more than 18000 higher education institutes is released by Cybermetrics Lab. Harvard University is ranked No. 1 in the Webometric Ranking of World Universities for January 2010, moving up a place from the July 2009 rankings and ahead of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (dropped a place from 1st to 2nd in January 2010). All institutions ranked in the Top 20 are from the United States.

In Asia there are three institutions placed in the global top 100, with University of Tokyo (Japan) rated 1st in the region, followed by Kyoto University (2nd) and National Taiwan University (63rd).

National University of Singapore is ranked as the best in South East Asia (146th in the world). A total of 7 institutions from the region ranked in the world's top 500, with majority of them from Thailand: Kasetsart University, Thailand (229), Prince of Songkla University (338), Mahidol University (381), Chulalongkorn University (398), Chiang Mai University (478). Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is placed 468th globally and 6th in South East Asia.
