The University of Sheffield has one of the best philosophy departments in the UK, ranked 21st in Guardian 2011. In addition the Sheffield Philosophy Department received the highest score of any UK Philosophy Department for overall student satisfaction in the 2007 National Student Survey. The Research Assessment Exercise 2008 has confirmed the Department as one of the very best in the country as a place to pursue research.
