Top Universities in Uganda

Following are the top leading universities in Uganda:

Makerere University
- It is Uganda's largest and oldest university.
- The University has a number of faculties in: Agriculture; Arts; Computing and Information Technology; Economics and Management; Forestry and Nature Conservation; Law; Science; Social Sciences; Technology; Veterinary Medicine.
- The University is ranked No. 1 in Uganda according to the 4icu.org world university ranking 2010.

Uganda Christian University
- It is a private university, chartered and fully accredited by the President of the Republic of Uganda, through the Ministry of Higher Education and Sports, and the National Council for Higher Education.
- It is the first African affiliate member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities in the United States, and a member of the Colleges and Universities of the Anglican Communion.

Mbarara University of Science & Technology
- The university is recognized by National Council for Higher Education in Uganda.
- It has the following faculties and institutes: Faculty of Medicine; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Development Studies; Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation; Institute of Computer Science.

Bugema University
- It offers a variety of degree, diploma and certificate courses.
- The University is fully chatered by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Uganda as an
institution of higher learning. It is also fully accredited as a university by the Adventist Accrediting Association
based in Maryland, USA.

Ndejje University
- The University pioneered the private university education in Uganda and is among the leading privately run universities, Chartered by the Government of Uganda.
- It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Nkumba University
- It is one of the few private chartered universities in Uganda. It achieved this coveted status on 16th February 2007 based on its robust and attractive programmes.
- The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses under Day, Evening and Weekend Programme. It has the following schools: School of Business Administration; School of Education; School of Social Sciences; School of Commercial Industrial Art and Design; School of Hospitality and Environment Sciences; School of Law.
