Top History Departments

List of top ranking history departments:

University of Dundee (UK) - It is rated as top of the History Departments in Scottish universities for proportion of world-class and internationally excellent research in the RAE 2008 national rankings. From February 2010, the University of Dundee, in collaboration with the Open University, offers a programme of distance learning in Scottish History.

Durham University (UK) - It is ranked highly as a leading British centre for the study of History. The History Department is close to the World Heritage site of Cathedral and Castle. It is consistently ranked in the top three UK History departments by the Complete University Guide, indicating excellent levels of teaching provision and student satisfaction.

Queen Mary, University of London (UK) - It is one of the largest history departments in London and offers a very wide range of degree courses and research opportunities. The 2009 National Student Survey ranked Queen Mary among the top 10 History schools nationwide for student satisfaction, with 98% of students expressing satisfaction with their degree programme.

University of Warwick (UK) - The History Department at Warwick is recognised internationally as a centre for innovative research and is consistently ranked among the best history departments in the UK. The Department has expertise ranging from 14th-century Venice to 20th-century Eastern Europe. Particular strengths include Renaissance and early modern studies, both modern British and modern European history, and Asian and global history.

King’s College London (UK) - The Department of History is acknowledged as one of the best in the country. It is ranked 4th in the 2010 Guardian rankings for History. According to the 2010 National Student Survey, 96% of King's BA History student respondents agreed to the question 'Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the course'.
