Complete University Guide 2012

Cambridge is ranked as the best UK university in the Complete University Guide 2012, ahead of Oxford (2nd) and Imperial (3rd).

The University of York is ranked No. 1 in Yorkshire and the Humber, but has slipped two places from 10th in 2011 to 12th overall in 2012. York is also placed in the top ten for 12 of the 26 subjects offered.

Lancaster University is ranked top in the North West and 9th in the UK out of more than a hundred universities. It also scored highly in the Guide's individual subject rankings: Accounting and Finance was ranked 4th and Business Studies was ranked 7th.

Buckingham University, a private UK institution, dropped 22 places form 20th to 42nd in 2012, but it took top spot for student satisfaction as well as graduate prospects and staff to student ratios.

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is named the top modern University in the North West. Overall UCLan has improved its ranking from 72nd to 65th position out of 116 universities. In terms of facilities spend, UCLan is ranked 19th nationally and 2nd in the North West. It was placed 39th nationally and 2nd amongst North West universities in the category of student satisfaction.
