THE Student Experience Survey

More than 13,000 full-time undergraduates took part in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2011. Loughborough University is ranked top overall, followed by the University of Sheffield at No. 2, University of East Anglia at No. 3, and Cambridge at No. 4. Students' views were gathered between September 2009 and July 2010.

The University of Sheffield is ranked No. 1 in the UK for its Students' Union, as well as joint 1st for its social life, library facilities and accommodation, according to the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey. Overall the University of Sheffield came 2nd in the country in the annual national student experience survey. Out of the 113 universities surveyed, it was also voted as the university most people would recommend to a friend.

The University of East Anglia came third for facilities and third overall in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2011. It is also rated top in the UK for accommodation and Students' Union and best in England overall, according to the 2009 WhatUni.com awards.

Lancaster University is ranked top in the North West and 15th in the UK in the annual survey, rose from 27th position in 2009 to joint 15th in 2010, ranked jointly with the University of Birmingham and the University of Kent. Lancaster is also rated top in the regional ranking where it is now listed as the top institution in the North West.

The University of Hull is ranked 26th out of 113 institutions. It received high scores for the quality of teaching, attitudes and standards of staff, the students union, campus environment and facilities.
