Founded in 1898, Friends University is a private Christian university located in Wichita, Kansas, USA.
The University offers a variety of majors and graduate studies through the College of Business, Arts, Sciences and Education, the College of Adult Professional Studies, and a Graduate School. The Graduate School offers programs such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Law, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, Master of Science in Environmental Studies, Master of Science in Family Therapy, Master of Health Care Leadership, Master of Leadership and Management, Master of Management Information Systems, Master of Science in Operations Management, Master of Science in Organization Development, Master of Arts in Teaching.
It is the first university in Kansas to offer an innovative adult education model. In 1990, the University was the third-most expensive private institution of higher education in Kansas.
Friends University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Department of Music is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Teacher Education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This accreditation includes the undergraduate and graduate levels of professional education programs offered at the institution. The education programs are also approved by the Kansas State Department of Education. The Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
