Top Universities in Germany 2011

Freie Universität Berlin is the top-ranked university in Germany (rated 1st in the country and 92nd in the world), according to the Ranking Web of World Universities (July 2011), followed by Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (2nd in the country and 95th globally), and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (3rd in the country and 103rd globally).

In another international ranking (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2010-2011), University of Göttingen is the highest ranked institution in the country (rated 1st in Germany and 43rd in the world), ahead of University of Munich (2nd in Germany and 61st in the world). A total of 5 German institutions ranked in the world's top 150. The others are: Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg (83rd internationally),Technical University of Munich (101st internationally), and University of Freiburg (132nd internationally).
