Fiske Guide to Colleges 2012
The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2012, one of the top rated college guides available for students, is revised annually and updated to include the latest reviews on more than 310 colleges. Some of the leading colleges featured in the 2012 guidebook include:
- Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has been named as one of the nation's "Most Interesting Colleges" in the 2012 edition of The Fiske Guide to Colleges.
- Randolph College was recognized as one of the nation's “best and most interesting” institutions in the 2012 Fiske Guide to Colleges. Schools included in the guidebook were chosen from more than 2,200 four-year colleges in the nation. Only 12 Virginia institutions were included. The Fiske profile touts Randolph's strong academic programs, faculty/student relationships, close community, and international focus.
- Goucher College was among 49 institutions (24 public and 25 private) that were designated a "Best Buy". The featured colleges were selected based on a variety of principles, including academic quality, price, student body, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food, and extracurricular activities.
- For the sixth consecutive year, Mills College has been featured in the 2012 edition of the guidebook. The guide describes Mills' academic climate as “tough but cooperative,” with students explaining that “although the courses are relatively difficult, the professors are experts in their field and extremely approachable,” and that “since most of them are women, there's no shortage of strong female role models”.
- Centre College has received high-praise in the “Fiske Guide to Colleges”. The 2012 edition commends the College for exceptional academic programs, especially art, design and drama, along with perennial bests, including biology, government, history, economics, English and anthropology and sociology. In addition to the strong academic character of the College, the guide also touts Centre's study abroad program, which ranks second in the nation. Centre College is the only Kentucky private college mentioned in the 2012 guidebook.
