Top Legal Writing Programs

According to the US News and World Report Best Graduate Schools ranking 2012, Mercer University (George) is ranked 1st among the best legal writing programs in the nation, followed by Seattle University in second place and Stetson University in third place.

Founded in 1873, the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the nation and the first one in the state of Georgia accredited by the American Bar Association. The Legal Writing Program at the Walter F. George School of Law is rated the top-ranked program among all of the law schools in the nation (USNWR 2012). In addition, The Princeton Review has listed the Walter F. George School of Law in its Best 172 Law Schools: 2011 Edition.

Seattle University School of Law has one of the country's top-ranked legal programs. It was one of the first law schools to establish a three-year legal writing curriculum, use the process approach to teaching legal research and writing, and have a full-time writing advisor.

Stetson University is consistently placed among the top law schools in the country for trial advocacy by US News. Stetson has ranked within the top six in legal writing since that specialty was added. The 2012 U.S. News & World Report has again ranked Stetson University College of Law the top law school in the nation for trial advocacy and 3rd for legal writing.
