Top Schools for Video Game Design
Following are the top schools and colleges for video game design programs:
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) - It is ranked No. 6 on a list of the 10 best places to study game design released today by The Princeton Review. Of the 10 undergraduate-level programs listed, WPI is the highest-ranking institution in the Northeast.
The University of Texas at Dallas - It has been included in The Princeton Review list of the “Top Schools for Video Game Design Study for 2011”, based on a survey of administrators at 150 schools offering video game design programs or degrees.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) - The Princeton Review has named Rensselaer as one of the nation's most environmentally conscious colleges or universities, and ranked the Institute's video game design program as 5th among the best programs in the United States.
DigiPen Institute of Technology - For the second year in a row, the Princeton Review, in partnership with GamePro, has selected DigiPen as one of the top schools in North America to study video game design. It received the No. 3 spot on the list, which was assembled based on a survey of administrators at 150 academic institutions throughout the United States and Canada that offer video game design coursework or degrees.
Keiser University - It offers an Associate of Science degree in Video Game Design which presents the processes and skills required to perform game design and development. Students are immersed in creative and conceptual areas such as character development, 3-D modeling and animation, game documentation, game balance, interactive story telling and interface development.
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) - The University was ranked by the Princeton Review and GamePro Media, the publisher of GamePro magazine, as having one of the “Top 10” undergraduate programs in video game design in the country. RIT was one of the first universities in the United States to offer a course in game design and development.
