Top Universities for Urban Planning

Following are the top rated universities for urban planning programs:

New York University - Within the NYU Wagner's Master of Urban Planning degree program, students may specialize in: Environment, Infrastructure and Transportation; Economic Development and Housing; or International Development Planning. In the U.S. News & World Report rankings of policy schools (which were released March 28, 2008), out of 269 master's programs across the country, NYU Wagner ranks in the top 10 overall.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - A national study of graduate programs in urban planning has ranked MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning the best in the nation. The department as a whole and every program in it has been ranked among the top three in the nation.

University of Louisville - UofL's graduate urban planning program was ranked 23rd, ahead of Harvard University and University of Michigan, in the "Top 25 According to Educators" category of the 2012 Planetizen rankings. MIT was ranked 1st in the educators and overall categories, while University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill ranked 1st in the South Region.

Ball State University - The Planetizen 2007 Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Programs rated the University's urban planning program 17th nationwide, based on a compilation of statistical data and surveys of architecture and planning practitioners and academics.
