University of Southern Maine - Rankings

The University of Southern Maine (USM) is one of the campuses of the University of Maine System, offering a range of baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs in the arts, humanities, politics, health sciences, business, mass communications, science, engineering, and technology. The University has campuses in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston. In the summer of 2007, Outside Magazine named Portland one of the "Best Towns on the East Coast".

The University is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The School of Business is nationally accredited through the AACSB - International. The University of Southern Maine School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Other accreditations include: National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education; National League for Nursing; Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; etc.

Rankings:

- University of Southern Maine is placed in Tier 1 at 118th among Regional Universities (North) by US News 2012.

- The Princeton Review included USM in its 2007 edition of "America's Best Value Colleges". The Princeton Review reported that each of those 150 schools "offers an excellent experience in the classroom, but won't force you to mortgage your future to pay for it".
