Largest Universities in Indiana

The largest colleges and universities in Indiana are Purdue University, Indiana University at Bloomington, Ball State University, Indiana Wesleyan University, among others.

Purdue University is one of the 10 biggest universities in the country. The University's School of Mechanical Engineering produces the largest number of Ph.D.s in the Midwest. Purdue has the largest residence hall system in the country that does not require students to live in university housing. Purdue's COAST (Computer Operations, Audit and Security Technology) Laboratory is the largest academic computer security research group in the world.

Indiana University was founded in 1820. The largest of its eight campuses is located in Bloomington. IU was the first Big Ten university to grant degrees, graduating the first class in 1830. Indiana University Bloomington has the fourth largest research library in the Big Ten.

Ball State University (BSU) is a a comprehensive university, offering a wealth of academic opportunities, including a wide range of undergraduate majors and preprofessional programs, master's and doctoral degrees. Ball State has Indiana's largest theatre and dance program.

Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) is Indiana's fastest-growing University and the largest private university in the state. The 3,800-seat Chapel-Auditorium that opened in January 2010 is the largest single building project in University history. IWU is an institution of The Wesleyan Church, a worldwide body of evangelical Protestant believers with its roots in John Wesley's Methodism.
