Cambridge was ranked No. 1 in the UK, according to the Complete University Guide 2014, followed by Oxford. LSE was rated as the top university in the capital and 3rd best UK university overall, behind Oxford and Cambridge. The Guide also ranked LSE as the joint-top institution in the UK in terms of research quality.
The University of Bath moved up a place on last year to 9th out of 124 universities across the UK. The University was also placed in the top 10 in no less than 18 out of the 26 subjects, with two subjects Architecture and Accounting & Finance) topping their respective tables as the number one place to study the subject in the UK.
The University of Surrey has successfully risen by nine places to 13th in the nation. Surrey has come out second in the South East region, second only to Oxford University.
Aston University is ranked 27th in the UK (up from 34th last year) in the Complete University Guide 2014 with three subject areas rated among the UK's top 10: Ophthalmics (equal 2nd), Marketing (5th), and Pharmacology & Pharmacy (9th ).
The University of Northampton is the "highest climber" in the 2014 Complete University Guide rankings, jumping a massive 39 places to 62nd in the UK. The University is also the fastest climber of any university within the Complete University Guide rankings over the last five years.
