Best Values in Private Universities 2014

Yale University was ranked No. 1 in the Kiplinger's Personal Finance 2014 annual listing of the nation's best values in private universities, followed by Princeton University in 2nd place and Rice University in 3rd place. Rice has consistently ranked among Kiplinger's top five best-value schools. Also, Kiplinger noted that Rice's six-to-one undergraduate student-faculty ratio is among the lowest for both liberal arts colleges and private universities.

Cornell University was ranked No. 15 on Kiplinger's list of the best values in private universities for 2014, up from No. 18 last year. In addition, U.S. News and World Report has ranked Cornell ninth in its Top 10 "Great Schools at Great Prices", a similar measure that balances costs against academic quality.

Boston College was placed 23rd on the Kiplinger's Personal Finance 2014 annual listing of the nation's best values in private colleges and universities, moving up a place over last year's ranking of 24th.

Bradley University was placed among the top 60 (at 57th) on the Kiplinger's list of the nation's best values in private universities, up 29 places from last year's ranking of 86th. This is the fifth consecutive year that Bradley has been recognized by Kiplinger's.

Butler University was ranked 61st overall and 2nd in Indiana behind the University of Notre Dame. This is the fifth time Butler has appeared in the Kiplinger rankings. In recent years, the University was rated No. 66 (in 2010), No. 84 (2011), and No. 73 (2012).
